United Nations Populations Fund Revamps Content Management Software

Jahia (www.jahia.com), provider of Java-based open source CMS solutions, today announced that the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has selected Jahia CMS and partner Quoin to provide comprehensive support for UNFPA's international websites. This three-year contract will include redevelopment of the UNFPA global website, seven regional portals and more than 100 country websites. Jahia was picked for the UN project based on its scalable, multi-site, multi-lingual management, and rich media capabilities.

"The UNFPA needs to engage a global community of contributors and expand its use of social media," said Brad Kain, Quoin co-founder and President. "Our onshore/offshore support team is looking forward to providing rapid and effective deployment of the redesigned and new sites in Jahia. Based on our extensive work with the platform, we know that Jahia supports seamless integration of social media, multi-site, and multi-lingual capabilities. Our technical approach will help to enforce UNFPA's look and feel guidelines while allowing local agencies to deliver their particular content."

While the UNFPA global website is in English, many of its regional websites need to be multi-lingual to cater to their clientele. Quoin will support UNFPA stakeholders through its resource center in Managua, Nicaragua.

"UNFPA is a leader in digital media within the UN with offices throughout the world, and we are honored that they and Quoin have chosen Jahia CMS to upgrade their global web presence," said Emmanuel Garcin, Vice President and General Manager, Jahia North America. "With more than three years of collaboration with UNFPA, we at Jahia knew that a critical factor for this website redevelopment was browser-based administration from anywhere in the world, including deployment to all sites. It is especially gratifying that an open source CMS can secure a project win in the face of such complex multi-site, multi-lingual deployment, administration, and usability requirements."

UNPFA IT will be maintained by Dexero, who will provide critical support in monitoring and administration of hardware and software for the Jahia platform.
