Big Data Predictive Analytics Comes to Nonprofit Institutions

Revolution Analytics, the only commercial provider of open source R software, today announced the launch of an Academic Institution Program and a Public Service Program. The new programs provide educational and nonprofit institutions with full access to Revolution R Enterprise (RRE), the company’s flagship Big Data predictive analytics software, for a yearly licensing fee of $999, which includes a license for unlimited users and general support. A free license will continue to be available for individuals through the Individual Scholar Program.

“At the Human Rights Data Analysis Group, we believe that data analysis has a crucial role to play in transitional justice and accountability. Revolution R Enterprise software will empower us to ask our data more questions and glean powerful insights more quickly”

“By offering Revolution Analytics’ robust predictive analytics software to universities and public service nonprofits, we hope to inspire the next generation of data scientists to tackle big problems with social and scientific significance,” said Joseph Rickert, data scientist community manager at Revolution Analytics. “R is the most powerful and widely used statistical language and now academics and data scientists at public service nonprofits will have access to the same commercial version of RRE software used by large enterprises.”

RRE is the fastest, most cost effective enterprise-class Big Data Big Analytics software available today. It accelerates traditional statistical analysis by bringing scale and speed to the open source R language, the de facto standard for modern analytics. Revolution Analytics has long provided individual students, professors and researchers with free and full access to RRE software through the Individual Scholar Program.

The new Academic Institution Program extends the same full-featured Revolution R Enterprise software used in the business world to universities and teaching institutions. A yearly licensing fee of $999 includes a full license to the university for unlimited personnel, email support for designated contacts, online case submission and management, and automatic notification and access to software updates. While the Individual Scholar Program will continue to provide a full RRE license to individuals that qualify at no cost, universities under the Academic Institution Program can now control and professionally administer RRE to not only ensure proper updates to the software but also to have the added benefit of support. With the Academic Institution Program license, universities and teaching institutions can install the software in student and research labs to support educational programs and research projects.

“We look forward to participation in the Academic Institution Program,” said Professor David Zeitler at Grand Valley State University. “It promises to provide a cost effective way to provide a true enterprise-level Big Data experience that our analytics and data science students need.”

Revolution Analytics is offering the same Academic Institution Program benefits to public service nonprofits. To be eligible for the Public Service Program, entities must be associated with any one of the following public service categories: a nonprofit with a focused mission to positively impact conservation and environmental education, pollution, disease and disease research, medical disciplines and specialty research, public safety, disaster preparedness and relief, international development and relief services, international human rights, civil rights and liberties, philanthropy, voluntarism and public benefit or voter education and registration. Nonprofits must be properly registered with the IRS.

“At the Human Rights Data Analysis Group, we believe that data analysis has a crucial role to play in transitional justice and accountability. Revolution R Enterprise software will empower us to ask our data more questions and glean powerful insights more quickly,” said Megan Price, director of research at the Human Rights Data Analysis Group. “As a nonprofit, we strive to provide an unbiased, fact-based view into human rights violations around the world. Revolution Analytics will allow HRDAG to handle bigger data sets and leverage the power of R to accomplish this goal and uncover the truth.”
