Give Lively, a startup that builds fundraising tech and gives it away to nonprofits for free, just launched Text-to-Donate, the only zero-cost text-based fundraising service on the market for nonprofits.

Donations via mobile devices continue to increase dramatically year over year at the highest rate of any form of giving. Give Lively’s free Text-to-Donate platform empowers nonprofits -- regardless of their budget -- to thrive during the shift to mobile by offering instant fundraising anytime and anywhere via smartphone.

“Raising money is not easy for small nonprofits without the budget to afford fundraising technology,” said David Deparolesa, Head of Product at Give Lively. “Our main goal is to remove major barriers to success for nonprofits, which in many cases is lack of funding. That’s why we don’t charge for any of our fundraising products. We believe it shouldn’t cost money to raise money.”

Other text-based platforms can cost as much as $3,000 per year, and require time-intensive setup and burdensome contracts, while nonprofits can set up Text-to-Donate in minutes without signing any contracts.

Text-to-Donate is already helping a diverse group of nonprofits raise more money online. It’s great for galas, walk-a-thons, and other live fundraising events as well as promoting via social media, radio and podcasts, print, and direct mail. With one simple text, donors can give instantly anytime using their smartphone.

Apple Pay makes giving even faster and easier for donors using Text-to-Donate, providing a true one-tap donation experience that minimizes donation drop-off for one-time and monthly contributions. While payment via digital wallets Like Apple Pay is an increasingly popular, only six percent of nonprofits currently offer donors the ability to give in one step via digital wallet.

Text-to-Donate is optimized to be used with Smart Donations, a free direct donations platform for nonprofits released earlier this summer. Smart Donations elevates user experience for donors with its sleek, modern and intuitive design allowing nonprofits to create unlimited campaign pages, set and track fundraising goals, and integrate Text-to-Donate into each campaign.

Give Lively stands apart from other tech companies not only because they give their products away for free, but also because their development process is based entirely on feedback from nonprofits and donors. “We are constantly collaborating with our nonprofit members to build out new technology platforms, enhancements, and features specifically to support them,” DeParolesa said. “We are excited to be releasing new product enhancements or platforms for nonprofits every few weeks, and we anticipate this steady stream of developments to continue well into 2018.”
