Givella: Giving App

givellaIn addition to your ongoing giving campaigns partnering with a giving app can be a great way to bring in additional donations. The giving app can also help bring additional exposure to your organization.

One such app Givella, started in Denver in 2014, works on the principle of making giving a part of people’s everyday routines. Your supporters can go for coffee, and make a donation to you in one simple step. Joining Givella as a nonprofit partner is simple, just fill out the online form. Givella does not charge nonprofits a fee to join and there is no monthly membership fee.

Givella does, however, charge merchants to participate. There are benefits to the merchant for participating, first they get a tax break for all donations. Givella’s merchant partners agree to give 5-10% of every purchase to the nonprofit. In addition, Givella offers merchants analytics and other information.

It is simple for your donors to use. All they do is download the Givella app to their phone; currently Givella is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. The donor will need to registers a method of payment with Givella.

The donor then selects your organization as their designated charity. They can then shop or dine at any of the participating merchants. After completing their transaction donors must upload a picture of their receipt or send an electronic copy of the receipt to Givella. From there Givella forwards the money to your organization.

Givella sends a thank you notification to the donor and your organization receives a monthly check. It is that simple.
