More than 100,000 nonprofits ranging from large national organizations like the American Red Cross to local animal clinics, museums and schools have joined GoodSearch.com and GoodShop.com to provide supporters with free, easy ways to support their missions. Through these sites, supporters have already raised nearly $8 million!!
GoodShop.com works with more than 2,500 top online retailers including Toys R Us, Target, Best Buy, Apple, Sephora, Macy's, 1-800-Flowers, PetSmart, and Expedia among others. The shopping experience and prices are the same as going to the retailer directly, but each time you shop at one of these stores via GoodShop, a percentage of what you spend goes back to your favorite charity or school.
Similarly, with every search conducted on Yahoo!-powered GoodSearch.com, approximately one penny is donated to your favorite charity. It's used exactly like any other search engine and the pennies add up quickly!
Millions of people are using these sites to help their causes. To give you a sense of how this has worked:
Ellen Winter, a lawyer in North Carolina, uses GoodSearch and GoodShop to support The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation: "I do so much shopping online and it makes me feel really good to know that every time I buy something, I'm helping the CFF."
"Since GoodSearch donates 50 percent of its sponsored search revenue to charities and schools, it's clear that the GoodSearch business model has the best interests of non-profits and other charitable organizations at heart," said Teresa Bodem, corporate and foundation relations, senior manager of Best Friends Animal Society. "And when you add in the GoodShop online shopping mall concept and the fact that there is no investment for participating organizations, GoodSearch represents an excellent fundraising opportunity for non-profits and charitable groups."
The GoodSearch and GoodShop team is revolutionizing online philanthropy so that no one is denied the opportunity to support the causes most important to them. "We have taken simple everyday actions, like searching and shopping, and turned them into ways people can do good with just a click of the mouse," says Scott Garell, CEO of GoodSearch (and former President of Ask.com). "Plus, with over 100,000 coupons daily which deliver $2MM in savings, GoodShop helps our users save money---which is important in the current economy --- while doing good at the same time. | |||
