In today’s age, your nonprofit organization’s web site can really be its face to the outside world. In some cases, it will be a web surfer’s introduction to who you are and what you do. For those who have already worked with you, it will be a place to keep in touch and up-to-date on what’s happening.

While you certainly want your organization’s web site to come across as professional, don’t underestimate the power of a nice, friendly site. You can really enhance the experience by adding a photo gallery. The process isn’t that hard, and it has the ability to really pull people in to your organization.

Chances are that your webmaster can pretty easily add a page to your site with photos and captions. Your job is to make sure the digital camera goes along to fundraisers and public awareness events. Getting pictures of volunteers and clients up on the site can not only make it friendlier, but can also really add to these people’s buy-in. What volunteer isn’t going to get a little charge of seeing herself up on her favorite nonprofit’s web site? It’s almost like a little taste of celebrity.

There are other interesting ways to use a photo gallery to your organization’s advantage. For example, you could start a Flickr group that allows others to join and add their own pictures from your events. There are even different software options available that will help you set up really fancy galleries if you want to go further than just creating a static page.

Of course, you want to be sure that you aren’t crossing any lines, so be sure to check into laws regarding using people’s images online. You will find that the regulations are pretty easy to work with.
