TapFunder: No Limit Text-to-Donate

Traditional text-to-donate campaigns have a set amount that donors can text; usually it is $5 or $10 per text. If a donor wishes to give a larger amount, normally they would need to go directly to the organizations website, but a new web-based text-to-donate platform, TapFunder is changing that.

Just like other mobile donation campaigns, organizations using TapFunder create a campaign with a key word or words. Then TapFunder provides the non-profit with promotional materials to help spread the word about the campaign. TapFunder also creates a special web page for every campaign. The web page shows the last four digits of donors with the amount donated.

Donor’s text the keyword to send a donation, but the difference is with TapFunder the donor gets to pick how much they would like to donate.

It is easy to start a TapFunder campaign, all the non-profit needs to do is go online and creates an account with TapFunder. Along with the TapFunder account, organizations will get an account with WePay.com, TapFunder’s next-generation payment processor. All texted donations are collected via WePay and are available immediately, although there is the option to have a post-paid billing account.

With Tapfunder, there isn’t a set-up fee or a monthly charge. However, TapFunder does charge $1 per completed donation. There is also a separate fee from WePay.com, which includes both a per transaction fee and a flat fee for processing the donation.
