Measuring Media's Impact on Participation

According to the New York Times, Participant Media working with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, along with other non-profits, seeks to quantify what aspects of media spur people to activism. Participant is developing a tool called the participation index to help determine what makes viewers want to participate in a cause.
